If you'd like to direct a domain that you have to another domain address or subdomain, a good way to do this would be to use a CNAME record. By setting up such a record, the domain being forwarded loses all of its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain it's pointed to. By doing this, if you are using a web design service by some company that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain and not only will it be directed to the website that you've set up, but it will also appear in the Internet browser address bar at all times. Some other possible uses of a CNAME record are to redirect all of the visitors from different subdomains to their main domain name, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by setting up a CNAME record for a subdomain since such a record set up for the main domain makes it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which we offer with each and every shared hosting, will permit you to create CNAME records for any domain address or subdomain hosted within the account with only a few mouse clicks. If you aren't certain how to go about it, you can check out the video tutorial that is available within the CP, read the detailed Help article on the subject, or just simply contact us and we can assist you 24/7, though it is not likely that you will experience any problems as all it takes to create a new CNAME record is to pick a domain/subdomain, enter the hostname you're pointing to, and save the modification. The new record will be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records enables you to have better control over your domains and site content and our system is simple and user-friendly enough to allow individuals with no previous experience to set up this kind of records easily.
